The 2016/2017 University of Uyo SIWES Orientation is Scheduled for Friday, February 10,2017, In Onyeama Ugochukwu Hall,at 10.00a.m.The Orientation is organized by the SIWES Unit in collaboration with the Industrial Training Fund, for students who are to proceed on SIWES during the 2016/2017 academic session.

ELIGIBILITY
SIWES programme is a yearly programme schedule for all the student of the Faculty of Engineering who is in their 400Level, all the students from the Faculty of Sciences who are in their 300Level and all the students from the faculty of Environmental studies that are in 400Level. The SIWES programme which normally proceed from the beginning of 2nd semester to the end of the semester. That is to say all the SIWES students in Engineering, Sciences as well as faculty of Environmental Studies will not be attaining normal lectures unlike other students in other Level.

PURPOSE OF SIWES
The Student Industrial Experience Programme SIWES as the name proceeds was designed to enlighten the students as well as try to put the student through. What was learned in the class room with that which is obtainable in the industry. The University collaborate with Nigeria University Commission NUC and Industrial Training Fund to give a students an enabling environment to learn.
WHY YOU MUST GO FOR SIWES
It is very important to go for IT or what is known as SIWES become must students after their 6 months industrial attachment the company may decide to keep them as their staff that is to say some student are gainfully employed in the course of their SIWES programme. And also it open you up for employment opportunity as you are most likely to meet your senior colleagues in the industry thereby exchanging contacts. Those who never participated in the scheme missed this opportunity.
STIPEND | ALLAWEE
IT is interesting to know that while the student is on his or her compulsory SIWES programme the federal Government of Nigeria through Industrial Training Fund has set aside a stipulated amount to appreciate all the students who participated in that exercise. It is therefore expected of every students to use this period of their internship to get themselves abreast and ensure they work assiduously in order to become useful to themselves and the society at large.
